STARTech provides management in three main areas – entrepreneurial ecosystems, investment of funds in technology-enhanced businesses, and office facilities for small-footprint, technology-based companies (in Richardson, Texas, just north of Dallas).

STARTech engages in active networking with company executives, university and private researchers, government officials, venture capitalists and other potential investors, entrepreneurs, and the professional community to provide the framework for entrepreneurial ecosystems that promote collaboration and investment in technology-based businesses. The current focus is on energy, water, environment and the supporting infrastructure businesses. STARTech also leverages the experiences of its investments, business relationships, and the geographic concentration of mature businesses in the areas of software, semi-conductors, telecommunications, networking and bio/medical.

STARTech is the manager of two mature Seed Funds totaling $36 million, most of which was provided by venture capital firms seeking insights into seed-stage technology investment opportunities. The two Funds invested in 48 companies from 1998 through 2006. Typical of venture funding, the Funds have had both positive exits and write-offs, with more than a dozen companies still remaining in the portfolio.

STARTech manages a 27,000 square foot facility in Richardson, Texas dedicated to providing affordable office space on a flexible, by-workstation basis for technology-based companies, often in the early stages of their business.
